Snatched – You could watch it at home

Depending on your relationship with your mother and your tolerance for cum jokes in her presence this could be a good film to take your mother to for Mothers Day.  It definitely had some emotional introspecting fleeting moments that could make you appreciate mom.  It had the seriousness of a romantic comedy and the humor of a buddy flick.  It also had that Amy Schumer brand of overtly sexual, shameless in your face desperation that makes me both cringe and laugh a little (on the inside).

Snatched

It did have some laugh out loud moments particularly in any scene that included Ruth (Wanda Sykes) and Barb (Joan Cusack).   This comic duo were hilarious as fellow resort attendees who insert themselves into Emily’s (Amy Schumer) and Linda’s (Goldie Hawn) vacation.  Christopher Meloni as Roger Simmons also didn’t disappoint and I thought he might have been channeling the great Jack T Colton as he made his way through the jungle.  I also really enjoyed the relationship between Jeffrey (Ike Barinholtz), Emily’s brother and Morgan Russell (Bashir Salahuddin).   Jeffrey the devoted, agoraphobic son and brother or our heroines attempts to get help from Morgan, an embassy official,  to rescue his kidnapped kin and the result is entertaining.

Snatched shot

If you have missed Goldie Hawn as I have, if your a fan of Amy Schumer or if you just really want to support films where women are in lead roles than you should see this movie.  Depending on your relationship with your mom, you could take her to the matinee after you have had a few mimosa’s and a pedicure.  But if you choose to wait for it to be available in your favorite home viewing option that’d be cool too.  It’s the kind of film that while it isn’t necessarily a waste of time, there is really no rush either.
